Why do I need a special appointment to receive Thanksgiving food?
We are planning on serving nearly 1,000 families over two days. We can only serve that many families using a "grab-and-go/drive-through " model rather than our usual supermarket-style operation. Special appointments are necessary to manage the traffic flow and avoid unnecessary wait times.
02/
What food will be available?
We will have turkeys (or chickens if you prefer), produce for side dishes, desserts and traditional trimmings.
03/
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Your Daily Bread registration card and some form of photo ID .
04/
Will the appointment count as one of my three allowed monthly visits?
No. We will also not deduct any of your household points for this distribution.
05/
What happens if I miss my appointment time?
A smooth distribution requires everyone to arrive on time. If you arrive early or late you WILL be refused food.
06/
If I get an appointment, am I guaranteed to receive food?
We will do our best to ensure everyone with an appointment receives food. If we run out of some items, we may substitute grocery store gift cards.
07/
Can I collect food for another person?
You can collect food for one other person or family IF:
-
They have a Thanksgiving appointment (it does not have to be at the same time as yours if you are also collecting food and you have an appointment for the time you arrive).
-
You bring their ID and their Daily Bread card.
-
You have a letter signed by them giving you permission to collect their food,.The letter must also state the date and time of their appointment.
08/
Will I get to choose my food?
While supplies last, you may choose to receive a turkey or a chicken. All other items will be pre-bagged for you.
09/
Why am I being asked whether I plan to visit other food pantries to collect Thanksgiving food?
Daily Bread works closely with other area pantries to ensure as many needy families as possible receive Thanksgiving food. This information is helpful for our future planning.
10/
Anything else I need to know?
We anticipate the parking lot will be very busy during the distributions. DO NOT come early or late, and follow all directions from our volunteers and traffic control officers.
